My Journey To Counselling
My path to becoming a counsellor grew out of my own experience of navigating significant life transitions, uncertainty, and loss.
During this time, I encountered a kind of grief I had not fully understood before. Much of my loss was ambiguous, unfolding through changes in identity, empty nesting, grey divorce, and my health. I didn't initially recognize that what I was experiencing was grief. I was learning that loss can reach beyond the loss of a person; it can also involve changes in relationships, familiar roles, expectations and the life we once knew.
Seeking counselling became an important part of my own healing. Through that experience, I began to understand the value of having a space where I could be heard, explore what I was experiencing, and find greater awareness and understanding. It also awakened in me a desire to offer others the compassion and support that can make a difference when life feels uncertain.
This led me to pursue counselling studies as a mature student at Rhodes Wellness College. The experience was deeply meaningful and life-affirming, strengthening my desire to support other as they navigated their own experience of change, loss, and healing.
Finding My Way North
After completing my studies, I returned to the North, a place where I feel grounded and connected to the natural world. The deep greens of the forest, the beauty of the flowing rivers, and the stillness of majestic mountains remind me of the importance of slowing down, listening, and finding our sense of direction.
I am drawn to the way nature make space for stillness without asking us to have all the answers. It reminds me that somtimes clarity comes not from pushing forward, but from pausing long enough to reconnect with ourselves.
My hope is that our time together offers you a similar space - a place to slow down, explore your story, and find a sense of clarity that helps guide you home to yourself.
How I hope To Support You
As a counsellor, I believe trust and connection are at the heart of our work together. I strive to create a compassionate, respectful space where you feel seen, heard, and valued. Our work is collaborative, grounded in acceptance, and guided by your experiences, needs, and goals.
I don't see you as a problem to be fixed or a mystery to be solved. I believe each of us deserves the opportunity to understand our experiences, make meaning of what we have been through, and develop a deeper acceptance of our whole selves.
Together we can explore what is unfolding in your life, honour the challenges and changes you have experienced, and discover the strengths and inner resources that may help you move forward.
You don't need to have everything figured out before you begin. We can start wherever you're at, and at your own pace.
Like many of us navigating the journey of being human, I continue to learn about the complexities of life and the many ways we experience it. We can hold uncertainty and hope, be resilient and fragile, courageous and fearful-sometime all at once. These different parts of ourselves show up at different time and in different ways, shaping how we understand ourselves and the world around us
I believe that through exploring our stories, we can begin to bring these
parts of ourselves together with greater compassion, perspective, and clarity.
In doing so, we can find meaning in our experiences and make changes
that feel authentic to who we are.

My Counselling Approach
A space to explore, reconnet, and find your way forward
I believe counselling is an opportunity to pause, and turn inward, and begin to understand our selves with greater compassion and clarity. Each of us brings a unique story, shaped by our experiences, relationships, values, and the changes we encounter throughout life.
My approach honours the whole person. Together, we can create space to explore what is happening in your life, untangle what may feel uncertain, and discover new perspectives and possibilities. I bring my education and lived experience to our work, while recognizing the uniqueness, dignity and reliance you bring to your own journey.
My counselling approach is person-centred, holistic, integrative, and attentive to the transition that shape our lives
Person-Centred
A relationship built on trust and connection
I believe meaningful counselling begins with a relationship where you feel safe enough to be yourself. My intention is to create a compassionate, supportive space in acceptance, respect, and understanding.
You are the expert on your own life. Your experiences, values, and needs matter. Rather than directing your journey, I work alongside of you, supporting your abilities to explore what feels important and discover what is right for you.
Through attentive listening, curiosity, and collaboration, we can explore your concerns, recognize your strengths, and work towards greater clarity and well-being at a pace that feels comfortable to you.
The Whole You
Honouring your story and your individuality
You are more than the challenges you face. Your history, relationships, experiences, emotions, and beliefs all contribute to who you are and how you experience the world.
A holistic approach invites us to consider the whole of your experience rather than focusing on one concern in isolation. Together, we can explore how your past and present experiences connect, what matters most to you, and where you might be ready to change.
Through self-discovery, we can make space for greater self-awareness, compassion, and acceptance. My hope is that you feel heard and understood as you reconnect with yourself and recognize the strengths and resources you already carry.
Integrative Counselling
Finding an approach that meets you where you are
There is no single path to healing, and counselling is not a one-size-fits-all experience. Each person's needs, circumstances, and goals are different.
An integrative approach allows us to explore different counselling methods and consider what may best support you. Depending on your needs and preferences, our work may draw on approaches such as:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT): Exploring the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
Narrative Therapy: Exploring the stories we carry about our selves and creating space for new perspectives.
Mindfulness: Developing awareness of the present moment with greater openness and compassion.
Journalling: Using reflection, and writing to explore thoughts , emotions, and personal insights.
Movement and Somatic approach: Exploring the relationship between body awareness and emotional experiences.
Together, we can develop a collaborative approach that supports your individual goals and overall well-being.
Navigating Life Transitions
Finding your footing when life changes
Transitions can mark the beginning of something new, yet even welcome changes can bring uncertainty, discomfort, and grief. Sometimes we find ourselves between what was familiar and what is still taking shape, unsure of where we belong or how to move forward.
Your may experience empty nesting, divorce or grey divorce, menopause, career changes, retirement, shifts in identity, health challenges, or the loss of a relationship, role or future you once imagined.
During these times, you may feel that the ground beneath you has shifted. You might be questioning who you are, struggling to let go, or longing for sense of direction that no longer feels clear.
Together, we can acknowledge what has changed, make space for the emotions that accompany transition, and explore the strengths and inner resources that may help you navigate this chapter of your life.
Your don't have to know what comes next. Sometimes the first step is simply allowing yourself the space to pause, reflect, and listen to what is emerging within you.
My hope is that through our work together, your can find greater clarity, reconnect with what matters to you, and move forward in a way that feels true to yourself.
Fnding your way forward
Counselling is a collaborative journey. We will explore your experiences together, honouring where you have been while making room for where you may wish to go.
There is no need to have all the answers. We can begin with what is here, making space for uncertainty, possibility, and the unsderstanding that grows along the way.
